Privacy Policy
Plain-English first, detail underneath.
Last updated 17 August 2026. This privacy policy is written in plain English and applies to everyone using SZN. If anything here is unclear, email support@myszn.app.
The short version
SZN is private by default. Your Keeps, Moments and reflections are yours. We don't sell personal data and we don't run advertising profiles on you. Sharing anything publicly is a choice you make one Moment at a time.
Who we are
SZN is operated by SDALabs Digital (operator of SZN). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question, email privacy@myszn.app or use our contact page. We'll respond within 30 days.
What we collect
- Account data: email address and sign-in credentials.
- Profile data: display name, chosen seasons and interests.
- Content you create: Keeps, Moments, photos and reflections.
- Approximate location (town or region), only if you enable SZN Picks near you.
- Device and usage data needed to run, secure and improve the service.
- Payment status from our payment provider — we never see or store full card details.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide SZN and keep your season saved across devices — performance of our contract with you.
- To personalise your feed and Picks to your interests and area — performance of our contract, and consent for location.
- To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse — our legitimate interests.
- To answer support requests — performance of our contract and legitimate interests.
- To measure how SZN is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it — consent, via optional analytics cookies.
- To send optional seasonal notifications and emails you can turn off at any time — consent.
- To meet accounting, tax and legal obligations — legal obligation.
Sharing
We share data only with the processors that help us run SZN — hosting and database infrastructure, file storage, email delivery, privacy-conscious analytics and payment processing — each under a written contract that limits them to acting on our instructions. We also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims. We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers or ad networks.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK and EEA. Where they do, transfers are covered by UK/EU adequacy decisions or by standard contractual clauses with additional safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Account and profile data: while your account exists.
- Keeps, Moments and photos: while your account exists, or until you delete them.
- After account deletion: content is removed from the live service immediately and purged from encrypted backups within 30 days.
- Support emails: 24 months. Billing and tax records: 6 years, as UK law requires.
- Security and abuse logs: 12 months.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who need it, and your content is protected by per-account access rules at the database level. No service can promise perfect security, but we'll tell you and the regulator promptly if a breach affects you.
Your rights
- Access a copy of your data.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete your account and content.
- Port your data to another service in a machine-readable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting past processing.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
You can export or delete your data yourself on the Data & Privacy and Delete Account pages. See also our Cookie Policy.
Children
SZN is not intended for children under 16. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we'll delete it.
Automated decisions
Your Discover feed is ordered by the seasons and interests you chose. It has no legal or similarly significant effect on you, and there is no automated decision-making of that kind on SZN.
Changes
If we make a material change we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page.
