The first cosy textiles

One throw, one cushion cover, one pair of proper socks — and nothing else yet.

Layered wool throws and curtains in a softly lit living room

Textiles are how a home changes season, and they're also how a home ends up with nine throws and nowhere to put them.

Buy one thing at a time, in the week you first want it. That's genuinely the whole method.

Worth buying

  • One wool or wool-blend throw, in a colour that goes with the sofa you own.
  • Cushion covers rather than new cushions.
  • Proper thick socks, which do more for a cold evening than any heating setting.

Worth leaving

  • Polyester throws that feel warm in the shop and static by October.
  • A rug bought online without a sample.
  • Anything for a room you haven't yet felt cold in.

Coming into SZN

Keep this and it'll come back to you on the first evening you reach for a blanket — which is exactly the right week to buy one.

Make it yours

Kept for later 🤎

Kept ideas live in My Keeps, keep their category and season, and can be planned, lived and remembered later.

My SZN editorial inspiration — our own seasonal idea, not a listing for a verified external event.
